SERVICES / FOCUSED PROJECTS

Have a specific marketing problem you need to solve?

Sometimes you don't need someone to take ongoing ownership of marketing. You need experienced senior-level help solving one important problem, making a decision, or getting something important right.

Focused Projects are custom strategic engagements built around that problem — with a defined scope, outcome, and endpoint.

Start with the problem, not the package

I don't have a menu of predetermined projects because the problem rarely arrives that neatly.

Maybe you need to understand why your marketing isn't producing results. Pressure-test your positioning or go-to-market assumptions. Figure out what you're learning from a pilot before a larger launch. Decide where to invest next. Build a marketing plan. Or solve something else that's keeping you from moving forward.

We'll start with the problem, determine what it will take to solve it well, and scope the engagement accordingly.

Some projects are relatively contained. Others require deeper analysis, collaboration, and involvement over several weeks or months. The scope and investment reflect the work required — not a predetermined package.

What could a Focused Project look like?

These are examples, not packages. They're meant to show the kinds of problems we might work through together.

Strategy and prioritization

What should we be doing, what should we stop doing, and where should we focus our time, attention, and budget?

Positioning and go-to-market validation

Are our assumptions about our audience, positioning, messaging, channels, and go-to-market plan actually supported — and what do we still need to learn before investing more heavily in execution?

Performance and growth problems

Why aren't leads converting? Where is ROI breaking down? What's getting in the way of growth — and is the problem actually marketing, or something marketing depends on?

Pilots, launches, and important transitions

What should we test, measure, and learn now so we're better prepared for what comes next? This might include a pilot, experiment, new product or service, new market, or other important growth initiative.

These are examples, not packages. If there's an important marketing problem with a definable outcome, we can talk about whether it makes sense as a Focused Project.

The deliverable isn't the finish line

The exact output depends on the problem we're solving.

You may end up with recommendations, a marketing roadmap, revised messaging, an analysis of your performance, a new measurement approach, a team or resource plan, or clear priorities and next steps.

But the deliverable isn't the point.

You should finish the project understanding what I found, what I recommend, why I recommend it, and what needs to happen next.

And wherever possible, I'll leave you with something your team can actually use to move the work forward.

Most projects also include a follow-up after you've had some time to put the work into practice. We'll talk about what's working, where you've run into questions or challenges, and whether anything needs to be adjusted.

Because even the best plan usually raises new questions once it meets the real world.

What working together looks like

01 — Define it

We'll start with what's happening, what you're trying to accomplish, what you've already tried, and what you need help figuring out. From there, I'll recommend the right scope, timing, and level of work required. Before we begin, we'll agree on what we're solving and what a successful outcome looks like.

02 — Work through it

I'll dig into the information, data, marketing, people, or processes relevant to the problem and work with you and your team where useful. This shouldn't be me disappearing and coming back with a presentation. We'll work through the problem together so the recommendations fit the reality of your organization.

03 — Put it into practice

We'll finish the core project with clear recommendations, priorities, and next steps — and make sure you understand how to put them into practice. For most projects, we'll also reconnect after you've had some time to implement the work so we can address questions, challenges, or adjustments that emerge.

Every project is scoped around the problem

Focused Projects vary significantly in scope.

A relatively contained strategic engagement might involve a few working sessions and focused analysis. A larger project may involve deeper research, data analysis, collaboration with your team, or involvement over several weeks or months.

Once I understand what you're trying to solve, I'll recommend the level of work I think it requires.

Before we begin, you'll know exactly what the engagement includes, what we're working toward, and what the investment will be.

Have a marketing challenge you want to talk through?

You don't need to know what the project should look like before reaching out. Tell me what's happening, what you've tried, and where you're getting stuck. We'll figure out whether there's a useful way for me to help.
